Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, a PBA veteran, has confessed that he considered retirement from basketball after suffering a series of injuries that kept him out for the most of the 2020 season.

"I was really thinking about retiring," Ganuelas-Rosser told PBA Rush. "I was in a bad mood. I didn't feel like I was contributing to the team. "I felt like I was wasting my time."


Ganuelas-Rosser, recognized for his quickness and flexibility, admitted to having a difficult time healing from a knee injury received in the 2019 Governors' Cup Finals. He also said that he had a shoulder and hamstring injury, which kept him out of play for the most of the 2020 Philippine Cup.


"I had three injuries back to back," Ganuelas-Rosser said. "It was extremely difficult, both mentally and physically." I felt as though I couldn't get a break."


Ganuelas-Rosser expressed gratitude for the encouragement and support he received from his family, friends, teammates, and coaches. He also said that he sought professional assistance to deal with his mental health difficulties.


"I had to talk to somebody," Ganuelas-Rosser said. "I needed assistance. I needed some direction. It was quite beneficial to me."


Ganuelas-Rosser also said that he worked hard on his recuperation and fitness in order to show himself on the court once again. He said that he was determined to overcome his obstacles and assist the Beermen in winning additional titles.


"I just kept working," stated Ganuelas-Rosser. "All I did was keep pushing myself." I kept convincing myself that I could do it. I'll be back stronger."


How is Ganuelas-Rosser doing these days?


Ganuelas-Rosser said that he is feeling lot better now that he has recovered his confidence and form. He said that he is enjoying his return to basketball and is eager to contribute to the Beermen's effort in the 2021 PBA season.


"I feel great," remarked Ganuelas-Rosser. "I feel like I've reverted to my old self." On the court, I feel like I can accomplish anything. "I believe I can contribute to the team in any way."


Ganuelas-Rosser expressed excitement at reuniting with his teammates, particularly with the arrival of youngster CJ Perez, who was acquired by the Beermen in a blockbuster deal with Terrafirma.


"I'm excited to play with CJ," stated Ganuelas-Rosser. "He's a fantastic player and a fantastic person." He'll add a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our squad."


Ganuelas-Rosser expressed excitement about competing against the other clubs in the league, particularly with the rise of new competitors and rivalries.


"I'm excited to play against everybody," Ganuelas-Rosser added. "Every year, the league becomes more competitive and exciting." The PBA has a lot of excellent players and coaches."

"I want to win another ring," stated Ganuelas-Rosser. "That's why we're here. That is what we strive for. We aim to deliver San Miguel another trophy."


Ganuelas-Rosser believes the Beermen have what it takes to restore their PBA reign since they have a solid core of players, coaches, and management.


"We have a great team," Ganuelas-Rosser said. "We have a fantastic culture." We have a fantastic organization. We have everything we need for success."
